Korea's popular group Tohoshinki, who is attending Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the second consecutive time in two years, also attended the rehearsals held on the 29th. In the midst of disbanding rumours, their rehearsal was not revealed to the press. The 5 members were unable to respond to interviews, and the mood was one of high alert.

On the Internet, fans have been expressing their worries - "This might be the last Kouhaku Uta Gassen where you can see all 5 of them together." In the midst of that, the 5 members of Tohoshinki participated in the rehearsal held at NHK Hall, at 7pm, which was after the "interview period".

Press coverage at the venue ended at 6pm. They attracted a lot of overseas attention when the 5 of them did not perform together in Korea even once, after the outbreak of the conflict, but continued to appear on Japanese television. However, in the middle of this month, an event that was planned to be held in Japan in January (10 performaces) was suddenly cancelled, and the fan's worries about their disbandment grew even more.

It has not been decided yet, as to whether or not they will be having promotions for the remaining contract they still have with 「Oronamin C Drink」, their new single 「BREAK OUT!」 which will be released on 27 January, and their 'Best Album' which will be released on 17 February.

The fans' wish for the New Year is "peaceful settlement". They'll be keeping a close watch on whether or not the year-end performances will be their last.

Yunho: I was very grateful.

Q. What was your best memory of 2009?
Yunho: The final stop of our tour in Tokyo Dome.

Yunho: I'm very into bowling at the moment, so I was very happy to break my own records.

Q. You did say that you wanted to learn how to play guitar in 2009, were you able to do that?

5 member group TVXQ, who is currently active in Japan, has been picked as one of the most successfully active celebrities of this year.

TSUTAYA, Japan's biggest CD-DVD chain store, conducted a survey from November 19th to December 1st asking people who they thought were the 'Most successfully active celebrities of 2009' and revealed the results.

According to the results, TVXQ ranked 2nd following Arashi and this proved that the group was extremely popular this year in Japan.

One woman in her 20s who participated in the survey said she picked TVXQ because, "They were extremely succesful in their Tokyo Dome concerts and they were very active this year."

Another woman in her 20s said, "They are participating in Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the 2nd consecutive year."

Tohoshinki and AKB48 Had a Big Jump in This One Year

If we have to talk about groups that have had a big jump in 2009, they are no one other than Tohoshinki and AKB48. Tohoshinki Japan Fanmeeting tour which was scheduled in January next year had been canceled, however the group popularity in Japan seems to remain.

According to Sankei Sports Japan on the 18th, ever since Tohoshinki becomes the face of healthy drink ‘Oronamic C’ commercial, the product campaign website has been flooded by numerous of Japan fans. The campaign is planning to give away a set of extra large posters and customized phone straps to 5000 chosen applicants, and once it’s announced, the number of people accessed the website increased about 4-5 times that almost caused the server to crash.

Tohoshinki will make appearance on the 30th at TBS’ ‘The 51st Japan Record Award’ and on the 31st at NHK’s ‘The 60th NHK Uta Gassen’ which are included as prestigious Japan New Year events. The title track of their new single ‘Break Out’ which will be released on January 29th is going to be theme song for NHK’s drama ‘Tomehane, Suzusato Koukou Syodobu’. While on February 17th, the group’s Japan first Best Album which includes their hits such as ‘Purple Line’ and ‘Jumun – MIROTIC’ is expected to release.
